New Tenant - Advice on New Gas / Electric Supply

Hello,

We've just moved in to rented and have to change over the bills into our own names etc.

Just wondering...

1. If i change the names over does this tie us into a contract, if so how long is a usual contract?

2. Should i cancel the existing supply and go with new providers? If so does any one have any recommendations? It's a small 2 bed house - GCH.

Thanks in advance.

    1. Your only tied into a contract if you choose a fix price trafi
2.You'll have to first start a new contract with existing supplies then switch this can take up to 6 months but is usually just one month.

Have you taken initial meter reading when moving into the property and submitted it to the current supplier? This critical if you haven't do it straight away.
