Harvey's Furniture Nightmare

They have to be the worst company I have ever dealt with - and I've dealt with some rubbish in my time!

Ordered a dining room suite and paid in full (first major mistake) on 2nd January.

Promised delivery in 8 weeks - took them 15.

Item was damaged - compained and promised a replacement in 2 weeks. 2 weeks later no replacement - complained and was told that it actually takes 6 weeks. 6 weeks later no replacement - complained and was told a replacement hadn't even been ordered but that it now had been ordered and would take 28 days. 28 days later and yes - you guessed it - no replacement and they still coldn't give me a delivery date. I then told them to come and collect the lot and I'll have a full refund, which they initially agreed to but didn't do so.

I've made numerouse phone calls, spoken to loads of different people, without getting anywhere. They have consistently failed to return my phone calls.

I eventually had to resort to court action. The court papers were issued at the beggining of August and Harveys initially responded by saying they were going to defend the claim. They subsequently made a full admission and judgement has been entered in my favour. They collected the furniture on Friday but Im still waiting for my refund. They've got until 22nd otherwise I will be requesting a visit from the court bailifs.

I cant believe I've had to resort to this. At no stage have I receive an apology or any form of aknowledgement that their service has been unsatisfactory.

I've subsequently done a few google searches and found I am by no means alone in my expereince of Harveys. And apparently Watchdog did a story on them a few months ago.

Harvey's are a total and utter waste of space. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HARVEYS

You may be one of the lucky ones, but chances are that you wont be.

    Sounds like you have been being fobbed off alot of the time by them! I would have lost my patience long since!

    Did you pay by credit card? If so contact your card issuer to see if they are able to do a chargeback - explain the situation to them.

    I see they have now collected the furniture - if they hadnt take it back to their store - find someone willing to help who owns a van - and take it back into the shop during peak time!
