i live in devon, and have a few nt carparks, and have used the nz nt card when parking there too! no problems.
as for the nt uk being bankrupt? why over charge people who live in the uk in the first place, i would willing join the uk nt if it was equal to joining the nz one!
if your happy to pay nearly twice as much for the same ticket, thats upto you!.at least im more likely to buy something in the shop and have alunch there, when ive got in for a fairer price.
After all it is OUR heritage why should we pay over the odds to see it?

But youre not paying over the odds for it, youre not paying it at all.
NZ is getting all the money................
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Should be called Nation Thrust because every time I go to one of there properties they try and thrust membership on you they are like vultures on commission

We had that trouble last year used the Walkers Brit Trips and always used too many vouchers but they always tried to refuse us with them, we had a family of 2 adults and 2 children on one voucher deal and then one adult voucher for the third child so overpaid in vouchers but they did not like this, at one place they were just plain rude.

I was a member of this for a year but there is not that much up north to go to so I joined english heritage instead I think they also give you some months for free if you join with direct debit but that started after I joined

Hi there, only a small money saver but if you buy National Trust membership and pay by direct debit you get 3 months free membership, so pay for 9 months and get 12 months.

Plus, 30% from TCB or Quidco.

That's me and the kids sorted for days out in the school holidays!!!!!

This offer is still on - I have bought a 2-person annual membership through Quidco which works out at £41.74 after cashback (which tracked almost immediately).
Considering the cost to visit some NT places (Stourhead is charging £12.10 per adult for example) I think this is really good value.

I agree on the generosity point, but that should be voluntary.
There is NO justification for rudeness.
That is likely to put off both adults AND children.
Someone being polite would have a better effect in people being both generous and wanting to return and tell their friends etc.
Children in particular need to have a positive experience.
  • Did you see that TV documentary about how the National Trust bully their tenants, make massive increases in ground rent after the tenants spend money doing up a property and then take legal action to enforce it?

Personally I'd go the NZ way, and I don't think the NT are likely to go bankrupt any time soon as they're one of the major land-owners in the UK.

really, i've lived in a trust owned park for 18 months now and theyve been nice, all the tenants are invited to their staff christmas party and everyone gets along. Speaking to some of them theyv'e lived there 20+ years and have never had any such treatment from the trust

So it only costs £6 more to join our trust over the NZ one. The trust really does need all the money it can get, it is a charity and it does rely on visitors who pay entry/membership, yes it gets money in rent from tennants but the upkeep of the properties is expensive, it's all listed buildings so repairs cost a small fortune and the staff that maintain these places are very specialist and most of them do it for their love of history.

I think that this was the TV show that I saw:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_National_Trust_(TV_series)

Incidentally when I said tenants I wasn't talking about residents that live in houses there, I was talking about a couple that ran a property as a business, spent a fortune doing it up and then the National Trust doubled or tripled what the owners had to pay in charges to the National Trust each year.
Thanks to all who post constructively.

    ave an A1 day!
  • I would be careful going through Quidco for National Trust Cashback. There was a problem with cashback last year and I received emails from them saying they had to decline all cashback abouts relating to National Trust - sorry I dont have a copy of the emails and I dont know if the problem has been sorted out yet.
