change pre pay meter

hi to all just joined would any one know if you have to pay to have a meter changed from a pre pay 1 to a meter to pay by dd as i will be saveing about £50 a month on elec as power gen said pre pay meters charge you more if you go dd you dont pay a standing charge like a pre pay any help please

Hi There, I am on a pre payment, Tried to go through one of the cashback sites to get both Gas and Electric from the same "Cheaper" supplier, I had an email saying no cashback will be given as the switch was unable to go through. I hvae just emailed current Pre pay leccy supplier to ask how to go about changing! If I get a reply I'll let you know. At our last Electric Statement we had £80 credit!! So if y udo manage to change make sure you get your credit back!! Not the credit on the meter, the credit on your statement!

you should be able to change from a pre payment or pay as you go meter as I have already done this contact the supplier you are with and ask them to change your meter to what is termed a credit meter ask if you would incure any charges, you could ask for it in writting. If your supplier refuses to change the meter or wishes to charge you then find another supplier that doesnt. I am with scottish power and they changed mine without any problems or costs.
