Joint Account - Whats Best???

Hi All,

Me and my gf are looking at getting a joint account, just so we can put some money away for 6 months to try and save towards getting a house. What would people say is the best bank to go with, like what could we do to get the maximum amount of money back for 6 months or so? Were looking at put around £600 at least away a month, so just wondered who people thought it would be good to bank with to try and make some good money on top of what were puting in every month

It depends on what you mean by "good".

These days "good" doesn't mean too much. You could each open cash ISAs (ISAs cannot be in joint names)

If you're a Santander/A&L customer already then you could try their 3.2% AER flexible cash ISA. If not then there are others at 2.7% AER. If you pay basic tax on your income then these are equivalent to 4.00 % gross and 3.375 % gross respectively. Look here for more info.
