RM Special Delivery - good idea?

For the last few weeks I have been getting ready to put my mobile up for sale on ebay and have been doing some reading about selling as I have only bought from ebay so far. I have been looking at the options for posting the phone when it has been sold and have come to the conclusion that the safest way is Special Delivery Next Day. Looking at my phone I guess it will weigh in at less than 500g when packaged so the cost will come to £4.50. Now this fee will cover insurance, proof of posting and signature on receipt(I think). All these things benefit the seller and is in my opinion the best way to send out the mobile if I was looking for safety. It does cost more but I probably won't be charging more than most charge for standard Royal Mail delivery so can anyone think of any downsides to my plan?

I guess it depends on what you hope to sell it for ? Might be worth offering recorded delivery - normal postage plus £0.680 -
I did this when I sold my phone, listed price for SD in the postage costs. Everyone was covered as the phone sold for well over the 32 quid max payout for ordinary mail, wether 1st, 2nd or signed for!0

Sending the phone special delivery is perfect, it is the only way to send somethiing over £32 in value.

Also with SD if they fail to deliver by the 1pm deadline you can request a refund of the postage. On about 30% of the items I have sent SD they have failed to meet the deadline.0

A quirk with RM pricing means if you have to send a package weighing 1.751 - 2 kg it is cheaper to send special deliver than recorded and only 11p more thn 1st class.
£7.29 - First class
£7.97 - Recorded
£7.40 - Special delivery(".)0
