Options
my mum has just turned 65 - a friend of a friend told her that she is entitled to free taxis - she is not on any benefit, surely she must have got this wrong? Does anyone know anymore please?

I think this might be connected with the fact that in some areas the taxi firms accept the tokens issued by the local council for use on buses. This could be called "free taxis".

Have not heard of such a scheme, but try contacting your local CVS (Council for Voluntary Service) for details on voluntary driving scheme in your area. They may not be free but almost certainly cheaper than a taxi.

whilst i don't worry about community cars , they provide a much needed transport solution in certain areas they are not TAXIS. I pay to be vetted by my council, i pay for the licences required and above all i pay in excess of £2000 for hire and reward insurance, your community car pays none of these, and they work there cars just as i do , to make a living , so think before you use one.
