OOoooooo i'm going back to beaubelles next week to have another appointment and to try on my dress again just to check!

They are so loevly in there!

Really?? DD and I went there and the assistant could barely be bothered to look up from her sandwich and serve us! She was verging on rude and totally disinterested even though they stocked the gown my daughter was interested in. We jumped in the car and went to Alison Evans Bridal at Swadlincote who also stocked that make and they were lovely.

I guess this thread just shows the varying levels of service between members of staff, or their mood on the day:cool:

I felt they were very 'hard-sell' and that it was kind of like a conveyor belt process. I hope Brides and Gowns is different and that you have a good time!
I kind of got that feeling on the phone. I'm really only going to give my M-I-L-tobe the 'dress shopping' experience as she has 2 sons so won't really get to do it otherwise... I'm prepared for it to be a bit hard sell so not too worried. I think if you weren't expecting it it would be worse.

At New Bride they did one thing that put me off a bit but I went along with it, and that was to take a £20 payment when I rang up to make an appointment for Saturday morning. They refunded it when I arrived for my appointment and I can understand why they did it, to reduce the possibility that I'll make an appointment and then not show up, but I'm not sure it was entirely necessary. Plus I was only allowed to pick out five dresses to try on, whereas at the shop I have now ordered my dress from, you just got the feeling that if I wanted to stay there all afternoon, trying on every dress in the shop, it wouldn't have been a problem!

Brides and Gowns took a £20 deposit too which I did find a little off putting too, and then she went into a speech about how long the appointment will take and 'we will try on dresses and then narrow it down to my favourite and then try it on with accessories, because there has to be one you like, everybody says they are amazed about how easy it is to find a dress here and then we will talk about bridesamid dresses and suit hire as the more you buy from them the more discount you get and blah blah blah.. '

I guess I was a bit put off by being sold the bridesmaid dresses and suit hire when I haven't said I was interested in that at all- in fact my fiance is having a suit made and i can't sort out my bridesmaid dress until next year and i know whether she is expecting or not...
