Electrical rewire guarantees

Hoping for some more advice, this time regarding guarantees for rewire of house.

We had our house rewired 3 years ago, between exchange and completion. The contractor promised to return with necessary certificates at a later date but never did. We didn't really think about it as time went on until recently when we decided to sell. We did manage to contact him about 2 months ago and he promised to post documents but as yet they haven't arrived.

Now he doesn't answer his mobile and the landline number is disconnected. I suspect he may no longer be in business.

I don't suppose we have any comeback if this is the case but I would appreciate advice on how to get around this - is it possible to have another company inspect and issue certificates?

Thanks in advance

You can get an electrician to come and do a full check of your wiring.
We've recently had our circuit board replaced and whilst here the electrician tested all of our plug sockets and lights to check they were safe and did us a report.
It cost us £600 but that was mostly the installation of the PME and circuit boards.
Make sure you get an electrician which is registered with NICEIC so you know that they're fully qualified to carry out the work - means you also get an NICEIC certificate which is good.

ask for a Periodic Inspection from a NICEIE guy - about £120-£150
  • there are other governing bodies than niceic where the contractor can have the exact same qualifications....elecsa, napit etc!
