Yellow marked ceiling after a leak

I had a leak from the tank in the attic, now there is yellow marks on my bathroom ceiling and also some mildew marks in the airing cupboard. What is the best way to clean both of them, I thought a mixture of warm/hot water, wahing up liquid and bleach.

For the ceiling, wash it well then paint over all the stains with an oil based undercoat, then repaint the ceiling. No other way or it will keep comming back through.

my decorator usually uses some kind of spray then leaves it for a day or so before coming back. But heres a link to a range of stain blockers (including spray type) http://www.zinsser.com/subcat.asp?CategoryID=1

I agree with john, and its the most cost effective method, yes, you can buy fancy products that will cost you a small fortune, but for small problems its easier to use some old oil-base undercoat that you probably have in your shed.

Make sure you cover every bit of the leak, cause if you miss a bit it will show, and leave it to dry thouroughly then emulsion as normal.
