How long to merge IS and JSA?

I lost my job in october 2009 due to a lot of time off sick and my boyfriend a matter of weeks before, it took 18 weeks (plus 8 weeks prior for SSP which never arrived) to get my claim for IS sorted which drove me financially under, my boyfriend has his own place in a shared house and get JSA.
We have only been together 10 months but are expecting a baby in february 2011, he spends most of the time here to eat, shower and do his washing so make sense for him just to move in.
I just want to know how long does it take to merge claims and would we both be on JSA? We are both frantically looking for jobs but are not having any luck yet.

You would have to make a Joint claim, you would need to ring the contact centre and claim JSA and just mention to them your partner already claims JSA once you hit 29 weeks pregnant you can apply for an exemption from signing, your partner would have to continue signing until the babys born and then it would become a Customer Partner claim, as there would be child care responsibilitys0
