Help with buying car when registration papers at DVLA

Hi there

Looking to buy a secondhand car. Saw one I like. Seller now tells me as she has just moved house she has sent off her registration papers for change of address. Just checked DVLA website - said it could be 4 - 6 weeks. I don't have a car at the moment and need one. Seller has said she can go into a DVLA Centre and they will send registration papers back in 7 days. Doesn't sound right to me. Think the seller is genuine but I can't wait 6 weeks. Anyone heard of how to get it back quicker?

Also any good tips what I should check when buying a secondhand car? Any advice appreciated.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me tbh.

Although yes it can take up to 6 weeks to get a V5 back. Was only 3-4 for me though

Can you tell a bit more about the car. If its the only one the company made, then go for it. Else- find another one with same spec.
Or you can tell the owner to sell you the car, give her 10%, take the delivery and reciept.
Offer her to pay the rest when v5 returns.

Funny how the ones being sold with incomplete paperwork are always the ones that are good value for money!
