Where to start with replacing a boiler?

Totally agree. I take no money up front but require full payment immediately after the boiler has been commisioned and the customer is entirely happy i.e. job done. I like the sound of the £20.....Far from normal. My terms are strictly payment on day of completion. I'm a heating engineer, not a loan company. On the rare occasion I have any invoices that are not settled in full by the required date, the customer gets charges £20 + VAT for each subsequent reminder. They soon pay up:)
A good engineer won't have any reason to have to come back that quick.
I take cash or debit card. Cheques bounce and are a hassle as you have to bank them. Cash is also a hassle. Again banking, plus I don't like walking around with huge wads of cash. The mobile card reader is great. I try to encourage customers to pay on it.0 -
Which mobile card machine/company/bank do you use. I keep threatening to get one0

I did it through the Fed of Small Businesses. Merchant services are through RBS worldpay I think(!) - it's confusing because I get stuff marked up Natwest and Streamline. I think there all part of Royal Bank of Scotland. Machine is a Sagem Monetel eft 930g. Works well. Bounced it around the van a few times and still works! I joined FSB just to get the cheap merchant services. Shop around though because I reckon you could beat there deal.Which mobile card machine/company/bank do you use. I keep threatening to get one0 -
I've been a member of FSB for a few years now as well. Didn't realise they use RBS, I always thought it was 123SEND.
I'll keep looking around.0 -
Yeah 123Send is the machine. Very confusing. RBS, Streamline, 123Send, Vodafone... all have a finger in the pie! Oh and Natwest. As long as I get paid I don't care.0

Hi all - wondered if any of you knew (or were) engineers in London?
I need to replace my boiler, want to get a combi but need to keep the pricve down to the absolute minimum without cutting safety corners....had thought might get the best deal buying my own boiler and getting someone to fit it but I wouldn't get any guarantee or service plan then would I?
