combi boiler pilot light won't stay ignited

This has just happened for the first time. We had hot water earlier on in the day, but i went to run a bath, and only cold water is coming out. Checked the boiler, the pilot light had gone out. Its igniting first time, but not staying lit. I've tried it half a dozen times, always leaving 5 or 10 minutes between tries. No joy.
Any idea what the problem might be, and how much it will be to fix? Any recommendations for a combi boiler plumber in Nottingham?

Thermocouple might be the cause. Thermocouple (TC) is a safety device that produces a small electric current when heated by the flame of the boiler. If the flame was to go off for whatever reason (interruption in gas system for example) the TC would no longer be heated therefore stop producing the current therefore don't power the gas solenoid therefore keep the system shut for safety if the gas supply was to be re-established.
A TC does not cost much to replace either DIY or through your gas repairman.0 -
It might just be a good idea to post the make and model of the boiler concerned.

Deffo sounds like the thermocouple. I would expect around £60-£70 + VAT to have it replaced by a gas safe engineer.0
