Thank for that.
Will get in touch tomorrow.
Too make matter worse her husband had a terrible accident at work a few years ago had has limited ability in his hand (it was totally crushed) so between them the chance of making a tidy meal is slim.
He too was refused benefit i.e IB because he looked the benefits officer in the eye and open the door to the office with his other hand. He lost is livelyhood because of the accident and yet was entitled to nothing. What is the point of working and being honest all of your life. It would appear that it is pointless. Because when you need third party help you are so detached from the benefits system you are unable to pull the wool over their eyes unlike those who never do a days work and seem to get it all.
Sorry, I am so desperate. I dont want them to go into any more debt or lose the home they have worked so hard for. They should be looking forward to retirement not repossesion. She is even going back to work when she is better. How hard can this be?

We have requested the statement twice. Called again yesterday and was told couldnt have it has it was sent for processing.
How do you claim the extra 14 days? The appeal for sent had a hand written date for completion and return. Would they add 14 days onto that date if requested.
Can she start the claim again as a new claim or does she have to go through with the appeal?
I apologise for my ignorance.
Tried to claim dla myself a few years ago when diagnosed with cervical spondylosis never got it so gave up.
Oh gosh what a family! Dont we sound wonderful lol.0 -

In my case I haven't been able to return to work yet & it's been 4 1/2 years since I had my 1st of 5 operations as my reconstruction failed.
Consequently I am now suffering from major depression & anxiety.
If your mum is depressed/anxious & doesn't think she will be able to return to work then should should apply for ESA.
Obviously having cancer & going through surgeries & radiation etc is going to impact someones mental health.
I feel for you, it must be awful seeing your mum go through such an ordeal.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

When you receive your statement of reason it will list why they don't think your mum is entitled & you can appeal if you disagree which is better than reapplying as they backdate your money to when they 1st received the claim.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

The extra 14 days is given automatically if you request the statement of reasons.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

I am so sorry to hear that. I was in hospital with a lady earlier this year who was having same probs with reconstruction. Dont give up.
What is ESA? She is depressed and very anxious. Yet 6 months ago she was the most happy confident person. She puts it down to the treatment. But I suspect it runs much deeper than that. At times its as if she has been taken away and someone else has replaced her.0 -
ESA is paid to people who can't work due to sickness. After her sick pay from work has run out, she'll have to claim ESA.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Thanks, I think those are the forms I sent for last week.
We were told that an advanced claim could be made so I requested the form hoping that this would cause less delay and any further financial hardship.
Dont really know whether Im coming or going do I lol.0 -

Having been through the experience myself I know how traumatice it can be, I feel like ive lost my womenhood & my self esteem has disappeared.
She probably hasn't had time to come to terms with exactly what has happened to her with all the treatments & stuff she is going through.
((Hugs))I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Sorry, I didnt want to read and run. I think that your Mum does need help in the application process. When my Dad was ill the nurses at the hospital helped with his application for DLA. I am almost sure that it was the Macmillan Nurses who helped complete the form. Ask them again for some help. Also you can phone the CAB and explain the situation that your Mum cannot get to the office. They will be able to advise how you can get somebody along to help. You should have a welfare rights adviser in your area who can also help with the appeal process. They can often act on your Mums behalf if she wants them to. You can usually find them via your local council. Your Mum should also be applying for help with council tax benefit. If she has applied for ESA then this will probably all be sorted out at once. You mention that your Mums husband was disallowed for IB. Has he tried to apply for ESA since then? He may be entitled to that in his own right but either way they can claim as a couple. Also ask the Macmillan nurses or the hospital that she goes to if they have a volunteer ambulance service. My Mum used this. A gentleman used to come and pick her up everyday as well as another lady on the route, and take them to and from the hospital. They can also take a friend or relative. My Mum found this great as she made a new friend who was going through the same thing as her. The "ambulance" was the gentleman's own car. He had also had treatment so was giving something back.
I hope that things get sorted out soon. You take care of yourself too. Having both of my parents suffer with cancer I know how hard it will be for you. Focusing on practical things can help but you also need to take time to deal with your own emotions if you are to stay strong.
