I'm not going to be changing my surname either - this is mainly because of work. I had considered hyphenating, but decided against it in the end. My title won't change on marriage either (same as Rosie).

My new SiL kept her maiden name as she had been published in relation to her profession.....she has been married almost 25 years. New FiL still has a whinge about it, even on our wedding day!

floss2 - I'm exactly the same - all my publications are in my maiden name and it would make searching for me hard if I changed it! OH doesn't mind though (at least he says he doesn't!) - but he has the same job so understands how important it is. Not sure how his parents will take it though!

I'll be keeping it for professional purposes, as I worked d*mn hard to become Dr G, but not sure where to draw the line though. I did tell OH that I'd change it for everything else, but I'm feeling more attached to it the closer the wedding gets. I won't be changing it immediately anyway, as the honeymoon's not for a good few weeks after the wedding and I'm travelling in my maiden name.

I have no objection to being called Mrs S by family and friends, but I feel like I'm still getting used to being Dr G.

I think that you have to keep your name for professional purposes. Mrs Smith doesn't have the same ring as Miss Whiplash.:rotfl::rotfl:
