Right, this might sound mad as our oven has completly died the death. However, my husband's reaction, and he loves cooking, was to say well we won't be getting another till we've saved up for it. It's the microwave and hob from now on. He's had his lightbulb moment! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Don't worry, there's lots of good things you can cook in a micro-wave. If it's a combination model, you can even roast.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

If you are on income support (and some other benefits?) you may be able to get a crisis loan to buy a new cooker. IIRC these are interest free. Check it out: if you don't have to provide a receipt, the real MSE thing would be to get an interest free loan, and a freecycle cooker.....
(BUT ONLY DO THIS IF YOU CAN TRUST YOURSELF TO USE AN INTEREST FREE LOAN IN AN MSE WAY - IE TO MAKE MONEY - AND NOT FRITTER IT........)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
A financially aware husband that loves cooking? I'd eBay him. 'L@@k!!! - RARE!!!'Eek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0

I'll see your 75p and make it...... €4 in coins, approx 20p in Gambian currency, 1 Boots Facial Pamper kit (free obv....) ... and a second hand microwave cookery book. Oh, and a chicken carcass, there's a recipe for soup in the book.
Seriously, congratulations on the overdue and much anticipated safe arrival of LBM!!!!!!
