New accounts are regularly closed by head-office; some of these will be people who have previously held accounts and the bank think of them as undesirables.

Who works in a bank's head office?

I thought it was just senior managers and their secretaries.

What do the people in head office actually do?

I thought they perhaps made decisions on how to steer the bank's overall decisions.

Hi Chamta, can you explain this a bit more? I'm not really following the point - are you saying that it is better to stick with your current bank if you are in this situation because you would probably get any new account with a different bank closed once they look into your history? Or that if you opened any new accounts like a saving account or different current account, with your current bank, they might then close it after looking at how you have run your account in the past?

Thank you for your help :)
  • Also the ironic thing is that despite going over my agreed limit and generally taking the mick, the bank account is registered on experian and looks like pretty much the perfect account - all lovely green 0's, no record, not even any 1's. I don't know whether I have just managed to sort it out in time for when they reported to the credit agencies (though I have definitely incurred over-limit fees several times) or whether Natwest have a policy not to report these.

Could be they are hoping you'll move your account and have cleared the credit record to facilitate your departure.:rotfl:
