My grandmother has just been awarded attendance allowance so she is eligable for a carer but she dosn,t know any one who can be her carer so social services are going to do a care plan where she will have to have carers going to help her at least twice a day she will be having to pay for this herself so would she be able to claim the carers allowance to put towards the cost of the carers.
Thankyou

Carers allowance is paid to the person caring. She can't claim it for someone to come in and care for her.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

She may be entitled to means tested benefits depending on her income and savings. Being in receipt of AA increases the 'applicable amount' that it is deemed she needs to live on, especially if no one is claiming Carer's Allowance for her.
