SF _ maybe you shuould have chat withh CW she' seems to be doing fab with the weight loss regime, good luck with your diet, hope you feel better soon x

ChinaTea - I'm so annoyed on your behalf!! I agree with Nuala, docs these days seem to think they're infallable. I've been reading a book about food combining and in that the author says that there are significant numbers of people in hospital suffering because of doctors, who misdiagnose and therefore mistreat people, a bit scary!! Basically she's saying that you need to treat the whole person and not just the symptoms! And things like diet and nutrition are often overlooked as part of treatments. Glad you're having fum with your DGS Think i might pinch that idea with my DGS, he'll be 3 in Feb so growing a pumpkin would be quite exciting for him...

LRLass - glad you had a good time with your DGS, I think people are so busy and suspicious these days they miss out on so much. Probably thought it was someone was trying to sell them something!!!

Had a lovely day out in the garden today, it's been very sunny. shovelled all the mud out of the chicken run so it's a bit nicer for them now. They'd scratched all the compost out of the bin and it had just turned to mud in all the rain, so have a big sack of (soggy) compost now! I pruned my trees and put all the dead plants in the compost bin, put some fresh cuttings in the chicken run for them to scratch about in and they seemed to quite like that! Yesterday I made a frame for leanto greenhouse from the broken bed base that had been waiting to be chopped up! Suddenly had a flash of inspiration and realised that it would make a good frame once the covering was off!! Just need to staple some polythene over it and it's good to go. I'll try and take a piccy!

It's my birthday today and going out later to theatre for FREE, YAY! I was filmed as an extra a few weeks ago for a play. The main character has flashbacks of his life and they are shown on a screen and this is what we filmed. Anyway it's the dress rehearsal tonight and all those who took part have been invited to go and watch, so I'm going there and then we're going out for a couple of drinks later, so that'll be good.

Also spent some of my clubcard vouchers before the value goes down!! got some raspberry canes and a plum tree for me and a nice plant for xmas pressie for ex inlaws and magazine suscription for mum and dad as part of their pressie. I might get them a subscription to RHS aswell but have a feeling they may already be members, have to ask them... In next years budget I've significantly cut the gifts budget so gonna have to make more pressies or use vouchers from surveys, etc.

Not managed to do any baking yet - tomorrow....

Well off to find something for tea. Take care everyone x

Congratulations thrifty - that is amazing news. Did you sort out the things you wanted to do to your house?
Knithappens I love the elf idea it just seems really sweet. I bet your children will love it. I've just got that phone deal too. The free internet sold it to me. Bargain of the year!
Kiwi I’m really quite envious that you are just starting summer while I’m sat here watching the leaves fall off the trees. Your strawberries sound great. Hope you get a really big crop.
    Happy birthday Jayne!

Nothing much to report here. I survived my first half term as a teacher but have managed to get the lurgy while on holiday. That being said I’m enjoying it though. I went on a frugal trip to London with my best mate and met Gok Wan walking down the street. I know he isn’t to everyone’s taste but I think he is rather cool so I was thrilled when he posed for a photo with me. I’m currently at my mum’s house trying to recover.
The only other major issue is my car. I need to get a new one as my old one was came free with the job that I had and I need to give it back. I’m going to try being carless for a while and investigate the bus but I don’t think it will be that practical. My next dilemma is whether or not to finance a newish car or get something older and pay for it outright. My initial thoughts are to get an older car and pay cash for it. My insurance is going to be well over £1000 so between that and car payments the monthly cost could get quite expensive. Eeek!
Hope everyone is well in frugal land!

I agree on the diet thing. Despite my best efforts I'm heavier now than at the start of the year and getting a bit mardy about it. Hopefully having no car will force me to walk places and the weight will drop off (trying to see a silver lining!)

Beautiful cake and bread Erme. Was the cake difficult to make?
