cw18 did you know that you can claim the costs of washing a uniform against tax? It's not a massive amount but might be worthwhile! BTW I would probably have worn a mucky apron to prove a point lol:D It's pants that you have to pay for extra uniform (don't know if you can claim that too, might be worth checking)

    How's evreyone doing.

Managed to get to my 'other' garden tonight to do more clearing. Have copiuos amounts of bamboo - some up to 12ft high. Any ideas on good uses for bamboo? Am thinking of going for a Japanese style garden to utilise it ;)

Anyway off to bed now, take care all x

No I didn't know that - must check it out slider_thankyou.gif

Unless particularly filthy, I have to admit I have been wearing the same one for 2 long or 3 short shifts over the past couple of months :o No-one's said anything yet, but in a meeting last Monday the store manager was stressing the importance of all staff having clean uniforms for every shift (we're due an inspection soon as part of some project that's going on throughout the company)

Will check :) At least if they take the money via clawback (unlike the safety shoes I got in Jan, which I don't have any kind of receipt for) I should be able to prove the spend as what it is. And it wasn't actually as expensive as I thought it would be (nor as bad as it could have been - I have white shirts, and if I were in the 'green checked' ones they're about a quid dearer each!)

    Looks like I can :T

    from the hmrc website

    What about uniforms

You can get tax relief on the cost of a uniform if:
    • it's a recognisable uniform that shows you've got a certain sort of job - like a nurse or police uniform
    • your employer requires you to wear it while you're working
    • you've got to pay for it yourself
The tax relief also covers the cost of cleaning, repairing or replacing the uniform. You might also be entitled to tax relief for the cost of cleaning a uniform that your employer provides if you've got to pay for this yourself.

This may be why work do these via salary clawback, unlike the safety shoes that are unrecognisable and could be worn anywhere....

The ice cream is now on regardless...anyone know of a good cheap sturdy food processor cos I've just gotten my first cheap one and fear it may not last that long..I've found a discount site for them but it's US and I'm worried about the plugs?

    Any ideas?

cw18 glad to be of service:D
Every penny counts doesn't it... I always think, even if it's not much, if you owed it to 'them' they'd soon be chasing you for it!!!

Had a call from the summer camp where DS2 is this week and he's homesick, bless him! I spoke to him on the phone and he was all upset so I'm going to get him tomorrow. Got to drive all the way to Preston so will be about 7 hour round trip:eek:(and a fortune in petrol!)
He's due home on Friday anyway but couldn't persuade him to stay one more day!! He said some other boys in his group are always messing about and spoliing it, which makes me a bit mad as they'll get to stay whilst he misses out:mad:

    Yes that's right,

He went to Edale last year and loved it so it's a shame he's not had a good time this year. I hope it doesn't put him off.

WE're going to the Sunrise - Off Grid festival next week and I think it will just be the 2 of us. DD3 was supposed to be coming but I think she's going to be away filming (she's got a part in a film!!). So it'll be nice to have some quality time together. Hopefully he'll have a better time there.
