KeePass Password Safe

I have been using KeePass for a few months after finding it recommended on this forum.

It's great and I use it all the time, but now I want to create a second database with it's own Master Key, so my partner can store their passwords on my pc.

Is it possible to do this, without losing the first database?

Thanks in advance.

    Yes

Just click File>New and that will set up a new database

When you exit it will ask you where to save it. Just make sure it has a different name than your first database (usually called Database.kbd) or else it will ovewrite it.

Next time you use Keypass, you can just use File>Open and point to which database to use

    hth

Back up the first database securely with any key disks, etc. Then try creating a second database!

There are other products which do similar functions, for example Steganos LockNote. You can have as many LockNote files as you wish.

    Thanks.

I tried that (and with a different name) but lost my original database, and had to restore from a saved copy.

    Will give it another go.

It should work the exact same way as saving text documents in Word etc.

    i.e.
You can save as many databases as you like anywhere you like in any folder, and to use any of them you just navigate to them with File>Open

I've tried it and it saves the new database, but I can only open the last opened database.

To open the second one I need to open the first one and then the second one.

Is there a way I can open one database without going through the other or select which database originally?

I've found a way but it seems a bit long winded.

    - Click on the KeePass icon
    - Don't enter a password but click on cancel
    - I can then do the File> Open and select whichever database.

Is there a quicker way or am I missing something?

It doesn't do that for me - Can't remember what default options I've changed.

Try Tools>Options, Click Advanced tab and look at the options in Start and Exit

    e.g. untick
    Remember Last Opened File
and Automatically Open the last used database on Startup

    Thanks Sra

I had those options ticked, so it was opening at the enter Master Key stage, I've got it opening at the Password Safe stage now, and so can select which database to open.

    Cheers
