Update of our application so far:

July 28th - Called First direct, they set up a time and date for phone interview
August 15th - phone interview, forms arrived few days later
August 26th - posted back paperwork, with payslips, etc.
September 1st - got a text saying that mortgage was approved subject to valuation
September 3rd - call to my work mobile to confirm my address (same as OH and the house we are buying), date of birth, and to confirm that I have applied for mortgage, current account and savings account jointly with OH.
September 9th - received debit cards, got a call from surveyors to arrange valuation for September 14th.

We are borrowing 75% LTV, just over 2.5 times joint salary. Applied for offset tracker BOE+2.49%.

Ok, so, buying a house, and all it has taken is 1 and a half months to get to a valuation being instructed! I hope you have tolerant vendors/estate agents as normally they would be climbing the wall and threatening to put a house back on the market a month ago.

Yes, the 'vendor' is tolerant, as it is our landlord.

We didn't return forms promptly, as I have been abroad for the last 5 weeks, and only either me back to UK, or OH coming to visit me on the weekends, so if anything needed signing, there was a week's delay.

Yes, it is taking time, but I have to say I am happy with the service, as any time we needed to talk to FD, it was always easy.

We have received the mortgage offer letter by post today, so we just need to sign it and return it.

There was a surprise in the offer. The interest rate they are offering is 1.99% + BOE, although our LTV is just below 75%. We are not complaining, don't get us wrong, it saves us quite a bit of money! We will sign it and return tomorrow.

We had our valuation done on Tuesday. Surveyor spent probably 2 min in the house. Asked when when the house was built if the second front room was a converted garage, looked into each room and measured outside wall. Said he will send off the report to FD the same afternoon.

We sent off the signed mortgage application form on Monday.

    Spam reported again.

If you wish to make a point then post sensibly. Ruining other peoples does little to encourage people listen to you.
