Lose what?

My parter has applied for a few jobs and I am wondering the impact this could have on various fronts.

1) Partner gets Carer's Allowance for me, partner loses this if pay more than £90.00 a week?

2) Can my partner get Tax Credits as I am on DLA. As partner is not 25, my understanding is that Tax Credit can only be paid if you are 25 unless a few circumstances?

3) Will I lose my Income Support, therefore Housing Benefit and Council Tax benefit?

Trying to grasp the possiable situation and number crunch.

Thanks

It all depends on how much your partner earns. For CA, it's £100 pw after deductions.

Model certain scenarios in the Entitled To website.

EDIT - the Entitled to website is now the new domain name listed in the link below.

You can claim Hb & CTB (reduced) without claiming income based benefits.

Does my box in the fact I even need to! You would have thought work = happy times! However..... Partner wants to get back to work, nothing stopping this ie in terms of health etc. I was under the impression that if your partner works, the other can't claim IS. I understand my DLA will not be effected.

Further more if I could work. Doing 20hours per week, plus DLA and tax credits I would have 18 and half grand roughly! This where I wish I could have a brain transplant! The last time I checked the Govt gave £40.00 per week for a year tax free on going in to 16 hours or more. Not sure if that is still current.

Is the rules re HB and CT the same for the full UK? Or is it up to each local authority?

What do you think of the Direct Gov Benefits Adviser online? I did Entitled to and this said my partner can get Tax Credit (Working) Yet Direct Gov makes no mention. Therefore this might effect things. From the Direct gov we would be £8.00 worse off a week, weird!

    3) Will I lose my Income Support, therefore Housing Benefit and Council Tax benefit? HB and CTB will probably alter slightly depending on her wages. Not sure re your IS I suspect it would stop.
