I've split up with my husband, how do I sort the finances so we can both move on?

Please, please can someone help me. i have recently split up with my husband after 20 years. It was me who called an end to it. I am still living in the marital home as neither of us have anywhere else to go. Even though I have been saving for somewhere to rent and so that I can afford to live for a couple of months whilst the finances get sorted, I have no idea where to start.
I'm on a decent wage and paid monthly, and at the moment two thirds go on the household bills. My husband is paid weekly.
Where do I start to get things sorted out so I can support my self. This is starting to make me very miserable.

Do you have children or do you own the house you are in now and is the split amicable?0

Sit down and sort it out amicably...other wise the only winner will be the solicitor....By the way any money YOU have managed to save is marital money and must go into the pot to be sorted out0

I'm not sure about how to help with your finances. Just to send you my best wishes, and letting you know there are a few of us in the same boat on here at the moment. It doesn't souund like you have children,as I at least have found out I'll get a bit more in tax credits. Have you told council you are now entitled to single person discount, cancelled sky sports, gone to single person things for anything else ( e.g we pay jointly for Denplan) They are the sort of things I am hoping to save money on. I want to stay in our house for my children's sake, but is yours up for sale? Could you rent it out, and split the ent to help you both to rent somewhere else? Sorry I can't be more help x0
