Any ideas?

Just want to see if i can pick sime brains but not sure if posting if right place! I have an indesit dishwasher and halfway through a programme yesterday it tripped the main fuse and if you reset the dishwasher it just trips again? Does anyone know if this would happen if it needed a new element?

    I believe this can happen if the heating element gets coated in limescale...

    Have a google for this problem and your particular model. It might be a known design flaw with this model, and you might be spending money on a machine that'll do the exact same thing in 6 months.

    Earth fault, either element or pump blown with a short to earth or internal fault, sounds like the former if it only blows when you start it, you didn't say if your mains board is RCD protected as if it is this could also indicate several other faults.
