spider mite?

Ive got some salad potatoes in a bag next to my runner beans (outside) and have just noticed tiny little red insects running around on both of them-are these spider mites? A few of my potato leaves have patches that have been sort of rubbed off the surface on the upper leaves leaving little holes almost like tiny cigarette burns.

Would the red insects have caused the holes or is that something else ?
Thanks for any help

Spider mites are actually very slow and are more brown than red. They spin webs which is usually how you spot an infection.
