Thats if our wonderful new government doesn't dump the whole scheme - I know lot's of people don't agree with it but my son's & daughter wouldn't have been able to stay on and do their A'levels without it!

The EMA bonus will be paid at some point this month. After this year (2009/10) however, bonuses will no longer be paid.

Thanks for the info but when was it decided to stop the bonuses? I don't remember reading anything about them stopping!

It makes sense, the allowance is supposed to be there to help people who want to study but who'd not be able to pay transport/other costs of studying without the money. Not to reward people who actually attend their course as they should do that anyway.

I did post yesterday in the other EMA thread, but I've had a chance to check now and I was correct; bonuses which have been authorised by colleges will be processed on 5th July and in accounts by 8th July.

Does this bonus axe still apply? Because the new government have come in before the last bonus' were paid, have they actually been scrapped yet?

The bonus has been scrapped from September onwards. The funding guidance still hasn't been released yet so we don't know if any other changes are to be made.:(
