Identifying an induction hob??

My friend has purchased a repossesed property and can't get the hob to work, she's thinking there's a child (ha ha) lock on it.

It's an induction hob with the letter 'K' on the top left of it. Does anyone know what this make is?

She knows the kitchen was from B&Q but is unsure about the hob.

Thanks

Have you checked that it has got power coming to it. ie the wall switch is on and it is turned on at the Consumer Unit?

Plus is she using compatible pans? We bought a single ring hob from Aldi or Lidl assuming our stainless steel pans would work on it. :o They don't. OH was convinced it wasn't working, but went and bought a cheapo pan from T***o to check it out and it's working fine now. In future he will be carrying a fridge magnet in his pocket when purchasing pots and pans! :rotfl:

    Hi,

Yes there is power to it as when it's switched on at the wall there is a red light that flicks on on the hob, she just can't seem to get any of the rings to work.

We thought it might be because there is some sort of child lock on it?? :j

I'll get her to take a picture to help identify it. But for description purposes there are no identifying marks on it apart from a lonely K on the top left of the hob.

    Thanks

Select a cooking area and then a power setting, with a pan in place. There is no heat produced.

Please don't tell me we are being so stupid, is that the answer, a pan has to be in place for it to work!! :rotfl:

Oops, have never had or used one of these.

Yup - the pan 'activates' the heat source....!

It HAS to be a ferrous pan.

Aluminium and many stainless pans will not work !
