Hello, well it has been 4 weeks and we have not received anything via post to say whether we have Tax Credits. This is our first claim, however, it is the 3rd attempt to claim benefit because, they mislaid the forms.
I was told that there is a backlog due to renewals. On average how long does it take to process?
Does one get a credit in their bank before receiving any correspondence.

my claim is classed as a new claim which started on 9th june. i know the've recieved my application form, just waiting for it to be put on the system. this can take upto 3 weeks, then another week for the claim to be processed. unfortunately it's the busiest time of the year for tax credits so could possibly be longer. hope it's sorted soon. The £1,000 emergency fund challenge #163 - £536.16/£10000

it does take a while especially this time of year, i did my renewal over the phone today and they said it could take upto six weeks to have the award letters due to backlog, payments can go in before you have an award notice or on the day of the letters coming through the post, but it is advisable that you do not spend any till you have an award notice so you can check the payment is correct and that you havent been over or under paid0
