  • it can't be that easy, can it ? that would be such a simple way for people to sidestep the rules.

The most annoying thing about Ebay is the way it runs it's business.

I would say that at least 40% of account holders are private listers who just want to get rid of a few unwanted items, yet their listings are limited to 100 per 30 days.
When they do list, their listings are usually lost in the miriad of 'same item, multiple listing' listings that many dodgy businesses use.

Unlike eBid, which actively removes multi-listings for the same product from the same seller, Ebay is quite happy to allow a seller with, say, 200 red left-handed watsits to actually place 200 listings rather than 1 listing stating that there are 200 available. This just ruins the whole experiance for the end-user.

Perhaps one day someone will come-up with a plugin for FF that allows one to eliminate from the search results any multiples and/or all the BIN's, and let the searcher see all the real bargains from genuine sellers instead of the imported tat from Hong Kong.

That's because ebay needs listings to give the illusion of traffic and success.

Over the last 4 years Ebay seems to have lost any direction it may of had, and does not even now seem to have much of a plan.

Whilst we#re on the subject of this 100 listings for private sellers, here is my stupid question of the day:
Does this 100 figure take into account relisted items, i.e if something didn't sell first time round?

I was told by ebay last month I needed to upgrade to a business account when I was only selling off personal items, a whole variety of things for different categories. It did mention that you could appeal but ebay still said I needed to upgrade.
I have set up a new account because as I was just selling off to declutter and I am not a business. It's a shame as I had over 1000 feedback but I couldn't see a way to keep going without upgrading.
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

Re-listed items are counted towards the 100 - I found this out when I started getting charged for re-listing 99p things :(

What is the problem with some people? If you don't like ebay then stop moaning, sell your stuff on car boots, gumtree etc.
Personally I think the rules are great, not only will they stop private sellers relisting their continuous unsold tatt month after month, but will also stop sellers listing about 200 of the same item for 99p start bid.

I can't see the problem either, perhaps I've lead a sheltered life but I can't see how any private seller can have more than 100 items a month that they personally own and are surplus to requirements.

i agree with the two above posts. there is no point whinging about the rules, ebay is a business same as any othr,, and they must make their decision based on what is best for their business!

i was just wondering, as i wasn't sure what counted..

and harry flashman, did you try to multiple relist them?? as there seems to be a glitch with the free re-list at the moment, doing them singly means you are not charged, (obviously so long it qualifies), but clicking relist all seems to charge the insertion fee for each!!
