How long to update electoral roll?

I sent off to edit the electoral roll so I am now listed at my current address, and removed from my old address.

I sent the form off about 2 weeks ago, but it is still saying 'no' under registered at current address on Credit Expert. I thought it updated once a month now, so was hoping it would be updated today?

Any ideas how long it takes? Want to apply for a balance transfer card before my current 0% runs out.

    Can take between 4-6 weeks.
say 2weeks for your council to process it and then the info goes to the CRAs monthly.

OK thank you. Will it be on all 3 CRAs then?

    Probably not.

I received a letter from my council saying i would be on the electoral roll from July 1st. I recieved a letter from the Lib Dems on June 29th welcoming me to my new home and my addition to the electoral roll.

The CRA's still havent got me as on the elctoral role.

I'm hoping it will happen at the same time as they update all my credit balance's (usually the 2nd week of the month).

The credit reference agencies do not put you as on the electoral register instantly, it can take a couple of months to update.
    Best Regards

Oh man really? I was hoping to apply for a balance transfer credit card this month, got a nice slice coming off my credit balances and addition to the electoral role should be the last two things i need for a perfect credit record.

Thanks. Can't say I'm surprised it takes ages..... Might show on the CRA's by the end of the year then...

The reason why it takes so long is all down to the law involved with getting registered on the electoral roll.

When you fill in the form, you are actually applying to be registered as a voter. Once your form has been processed, a certain amount of time is allowed for anyone to make an objection against your application (think along the lines of planning permission for a new building and you won't be far off the mark). Depending on when your form was received this can be anything up to a month.

After this, it can take up to another month for the records to be updated with the CRA, this all depends on the council and the CRA.
Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.

I was registering with few different councils during last few years and each process took different time - from just about 2 weeks to about 3 months (council confirmed receiving application but they had only 4 dates during a year for processing it)
    mortgage started 31st May 2011 -£59200
mortgage overpayment started July 2011 :D

Just a note to say that as of today my Experian Credit report now says that i'm on the Electoral role so it's only taken a few days.
