Just wanted to ask if anyone has ever been to the chester le street market. Just curious as to what it is like...is it not a flea market?
Dobbies at Birtly have a farm shop inside, maybe others do the same.

The monthly farmers market and the weekly Friday market are both good - decent stuff at good prices. The man who sells meat auction style from a big van has some good bargains and it's nice meat, and the lady who sells fruit & veg opposite Halifax estate agents has nice stuff. I've had other decent odds and ends too - clothing, bath mats, plants, dog beds etc!

Get there in the morning for the meat, as he's usually sold out by lunchtime.

The weekly market on Tuesdays is not so good. There are less sellers and it's more junk than decent things. The Saturday market is a flea market and mainly second hand stuff and junk!
Here I go again on my own....

Hope everyone in tyne and wear hasn't completely forgotton this post as I have just remembered about an organic farm shop in ebchester. Its called something like 'the herb patch', and you travel through rowlands gill towards hamsterly forest on th a694, at ebchester take the b6309 and its on that road.
It has a tea room and small farm animals(ducks hens -with chicks, and a goat) which my ds loved.
The shop is full of lovely organic produce, they even refill ecover bottles. We got some fruit there and it was divine.
Can't believe I forgot to mention this as I was only there last week! It is worth a visit as it is in such a lovely spot. (yes I know it is County Durham but its not too far away )
Love to all in the shadow of the northern angel
