My 6 year old son wants a ds for xmas (i know its early!) and has been going on and on about it, so i'm confident he won't change his mind.

Comet have a DS lite for £79.99. DSi is £120+

He'll only be playing mario and sonic games etc on it. Is it worth paying the extra for the DSi? I'm thinking of getting it now as ive heard they are bringing out a newer model (?) and the large screen versions are way out of budget. Also, the DSlites don't seem to be plentiful now.

Thanks,

Probably best to pay the extra and get the DSi. They have a camera (not brilliant but has some novelty value!) and there is a memory card slot on it so you can download games from nintendo. :)

I agree with above. I've just bought a DSI for my 7 year old nephew. There's also a programme to alter pictures - make funny faces apparently. But he and his dad were very specific. They have to have what the other kids have I guess. If you wait til the new one's out, you may pick up a bargain?

Sainsbury's are advertising the DSi for only £99.99
