Receiving International Sales calls

I have been receiving International sales calls. The latest one was in respect of "Government Grants" and I think it came from a call centre in India - the caller sounded Indian.
These calls normally come at lunch-time or tea-time. By the way I am on BT's ex-directory list and never give my home number to anyone.
Normally if no number is displayed or I can't recoganise the number, I don't answer the phone. However, my family live abroad and when international is displayed I think it is a call from them, but when answered I realise that it is a sales call. This is becoming really annoying.
I spoke to BT who are the line provider and explained the sitaution and they said there is nothing they can do as the calls are coming from overseas.
My parents are coming to stay with me for a few month and I am worried that when I am not home, they might answer the call and provide some information thinking they are being helpful which might be determental to us later on e.g slam scam or anything else that is going around.
Has anyone else had these types of calls and how can I stop them coming through. I am registered with TPS
