RBS Not Issuing Mastero Cards?

Hi,

I was in RBS yesterday after my card declined at the ATM machine they said that they are not issuing mastero cards anymore you should of received a visa debit card in May, but I didn't get it and I have been using my card okay till 2 days ago??

They cut my card up and told me to wait 5-7 days while I get my new visa debit card. They said the reasons where its more widley accepted that Mastero and that its more secure?

Anyone had this done to them?

Thanks.

    Um, probably 80% of customers now have Visa debit cards now. they have a section on their website about it;

    There has been several posts regarding this here, including a thread regarding some companies not accepting the new card, because of the card number.

    Got my replacement a few weeks back and had no issues so far. My mum had a similar situation to the OP, went into the bank and told card has expired and she should have a new card.

    She hadn't received a card, but they order a replacement, sent to the branch for pick up as it is quite easy to miss the post particularly if it is needed to be signed for.

    It is true that Visa is more widely accepted IMO.

    Many customers have chucked them straight in the bin thinking they're credit cards.

    But if people don't read statement inserts it's up to them.

    I got a letter to say mine was coming in the post. Thought here we go won't turn up again as has happened a few times in the past. But no it acutally turned up, in what they call disguised mail (a good idea IMO).

    I still get my card declined since changing over to visa. Just last week I tried to book a last minute holiday and it was declined. Had to transfer money to my Lloyds account to pay for it.

    Crazy, RBS should have advised merchants sooner about the new card numbers so they would be all updated by now

    Had mine since March and never had a moment's problem getting it accepted. (Thank goodness!)

    So far it hasn't been refused. My Maestro that it replaced was only ever refused once anywhere are that was on movie tickets. co.uk, which I believe deals with showcase cinemas online bookings.

    Could never understand why. Next time there is a film worth seeing, be interesting to see if my visa card is accepted.
