Dishwasher tripping electricity

Hello,
When my dishwasher gets to a certain stage - the pumping out stage it blows all the electrics in the house. It happened for the first time last night and at first we did not know what it was the house was just blacked out. We reset the breakers and this morning I put the dishwasher on again - it was still full from unfinished cycle last night. Once again when it tried to pump all the power was shut off.
The machine is 6 years old, is it worth a repair or should I just get a new one?

Try it on another socket on the same circuit, then try it on another ring main, (use an extension lead if necessary). If it still trips, then it is not a fault on the socket or the original ring main.
What do you mean by 'breakers', is it tripping an RCD or just a standard MCB?
Probably earth leakage on the dishwasher, you need it get it properly checked by a qualified electrician, could be a simple fault to remedy. No free lunch, and no free laptop

As it's knocking the RCD out only when it tries to pump the waste, it's more than likely a defective water pump.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

What brand is it?0

if its only the pump, then its worth doing.
pumps are very cheap and easy to replace DIY.Get some gorm.0 -
Could be the water pump tripping the breakers or the wiring loom in the washing machine could have frayed so when it reaches the pumping out stage voltage may leak to the body of the dishwasher tripping the circuit.
I would follow macman's advice first.0 -
Thank you all. Tried it on a distant socket with an extension cable and the same thing happened. it is an Indesit DVG 622. My husband is quite handy but had foot surgery yesterday so cannot stand up let alone sort this out!!0

An update:
It was not the pump after all. It was a faulty wire in the huge bundle that runs down the front of the machine. The chap said happens after years of use and opening/closing the door. Getting a new on delivered this week - thanks for all your help.0
