A&L faster payments - not working?

Hi all

I sent a payment from A&L on Tuesday of £200 (under their FP limit) but it hasn't turned up. My Mum has found the same problem. I made a FP last week and it arrived instantly, so I'm assuming these payments have gone by BACS for some reason.

Anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know if they have stopped doing FPs now that they have migrated to Santander's system?

Thanks.

Is it the first time you've sent anything to this particular payee?

I had this problem with A&L a few weeks ago, and was told if it's a new payee it takes up to 3 working days the first time you send a payment.

Maybe give them a call to confirm though in case there's been a mistake.

I've had an A+L account for 2 years now (Time to ditch and switch I think). however, the Faster Payments thing has never work for me, and I've sent money to every high street bank you could probably think of. Personally I think the faster payments thing is a headline grabber surrounded by small print.

I would think that Santander (Abbey) Faster Payments rules now apply.

    Welcome to Santander ;)

    Still works for me.
I sent £250 from my A+L account to my Tesco Saver account yesterday. It arrived immediately.

Lstuff is right. The first FP payment to any given payee does not go through instantaneously but subsequent payments should. I have found this to be the case with both A&L and Nationwide.

I sent 4 FP of £250 to an existing payee, 2 went immediately, and the other 2 went the next day.

A&L FPS system really is a joke.

    Cheers, Des.

Sigh :( It's not the first time I've sent to this account (it's my main current account), so it's not that. I only use the A&L account for savings so I haven't been bothered by their uselessness yet. However, I wanted to get this money sorted out ASAP to have enough to cover my bills. I'm out of the country all month with only sporadic internet access, and I'm very nervous about running out of money and not knowing about it!

A&L are now part of Santander, which also took over Abbey and Bradford & Bingley.

Santander do not yet send faster payments, despite what the faster payments website says. I called them and was told that they didn't send them, but they could (in theory) receive them.

I've not tried the receiving, but I know from experience that they can't send them.

It's frustrating, because I was able to send faster payments through Abbey!

Let's hope they get their act together.

Well my £200 turned up today, and then just for fun I sent a pound from A&L to see what happened and it arrived in my account right away! I don't know what's going on, but I also really hope they get their act together on faster payments!!
