Do I need card protection??

Am due for renewal but was just wondering whether I actually need this service or if I get someprotection with each individual card I have?
It's with CPP and will cost £36.99

Advice gratefully received, thanks in advance

What is it protection against? If it's protection against loss of income due to unemployment or sickness, then it depends on how much crap you would be in if one of those events happened. If you don't think you could cover your debts in those circumstances then protection would be a good idea.

Ah, personally I wouldn't bother with it. But if you have a lot of credit cards, travel a lot and/or are extra clumsy and forgetful then it might be a useful service :)

I personally get it free with my staff bank account and don't think I've even bothered registering.

Seems like a lot of money for not much in return.

    They basically

    1) Give you fraud protection that you don't need. The consumer credit act gives you all the protection you need. If someone uses your card it isn't your problem.

    2) They call your bank and order new cards. Wow. This takes all of 30 seconds.

    3) They give you some pocket money while your cards are replaced so you can buy a handbag.

That's not much help for £40.

I'd keep the £40 and look after your cards. Take some telephone numbers with you if you go on holiday and look after your PINs.

A LOT of fraud protection and a tiny bit of cash to help you out.
