I have had enough

In the last three years,

I have been made redundant, spent 10 very stressful weeks finding another job.

OH made redundant in Jan after 22 years service- company dormant (not trading but not in liquidation) still trying to get his redundancy money. He found another job within 2 weeks luckily.

New company ceasing to trade from next week -less than two years service.

Somebody give me ammunition to shoot them down now! (I need the argument)

I'm very sorry to hear this, it sounds as if you've both had a rough time.
I'm not knowledgeable about these things so am just bumping it for you in the hope the right people come along. If you don't hear by morning, however, do post again to bring the thread to people's attention. There are bound to be more people around then.
Meanwhile I really hope the money comes through as well as the ammo.

In the last few years my son has worked for rosebys (sp?), woolworths, a local building company (so not him but a jobs a job) a local shop..all part time, all closed down.
Whilst losing jobs in retail, he was retraining at college but after having done 1 1/2 years of it, due to job centre 13 week full time job hunting course...(he only went to college for 15 hours a week) he had to quit that.
So one very fed up 30 year old man.
I lost my full time job 18 months ago, hubby took a 25% pay cut over a year ago to try to keep his job.

And my brother lost his last week and his wife is already on notice.

So know exactly how you're feeling, and so do many others all in the same boat (can someone find me a different boat please :)) but it is amazing how little one can live on.
I've been through this before in the 80's, so like me, you will one day, look back with 'this time now' being a distant memory.

I should be a pensioner by time the next recession comes along, or maybe not, got to work till I'm 67 at the mo, be 80 at this rate by time I can claim a pension!

Chin up, keep calm and carry on :D

*goes back to thinking of doing a reggie perrin;)*
  • That's a really rough run you've both had recently. Only positive is that at least you both clearly have skills and ability to get another job and have done so. That should place you in a stronger position than those who haven't experienced this before and I really hope things pick up for you soon.

Putting it down to "bad luck" doesn't quite cut it does it... As Liquorice Twirls, you two seem to have all the skills in place to get another job which I hope will happen very soon. The current economic climate really sucks (for some more than others) and really I wish you all the best.

    My thoughts are with you.
