So glad I'm waving goodbye to Citi

in Credit cards
In May I phoned Citi to close my account because of all the stuff about their business being taken over by some sub-prime outfit which I want no part of. They gave me a settlement figure which I paid over the phone by debit card there and then.
They said cut up the card, etc.etc.
4 weeks later the June statement arrives showing an interest charge of £1.00 and a closing statement balance of 99p. I phone up, they apologise, say the interest charge will be reversed and the account closed.
Today (30th June) a letter arrives dated 27th June saying "thanks for asking for a settlement figure. Your settlement figure is £0.99. This figure is good up until 25/06/10. I phone them up again flabbergasted, they say the letter is nonsense and to disregard it. They say my next statement will arrive in July with a credit balance of 1p. When that statement arrives I have to phone up and ask for a cheque. The cheque for 1p will be sent and then I can close the account.
Outstanding.

Same here ! Rang up for closing balance figure-was transferred twice and to cut a long story short, it was a fiasco just getting a correct balance. Have ended up overpaying and have to ring them up to get a cheque for £12 in order to close my account once and for all. Can't wait to get rid!:hello: SHARING THE LOVE (OF A BARGAIN) x0
