as the title suggests, would like recommendations to hire a car from faro airport in portugal for a week in march.

They don't ask for money up front , you pay when when you get there. If you pay cash you get a small discount. There are no hidden extras except for a small additional tyre / wheel damage cover you can take out. You pick up the car drop if off at the airport (not at a depot a couple of miles away) and you don't have to leave the car with a full tank a fuel . You just try and leave the same in as when you picked it up.

They don't have a desk at the airport , the guy does it out of his brief-case when sitting on a bench but it is still a well run professional outfit. Last year we booked a basic car and were upgraded to a brand new C3 with air-con for no extra charge.

I would recomend Zit Autos - Stupid name, but great service.

Avoid Sixt like the plague.

We went as an extended family a few years ago. The other group got their car from Zit, and were in the car within 15 minutes. We queued at the Sixt desk, then in the car park for a total of over two hours. When we went back last year, you can imagine which company we used.

We used them last May for a family holiday from Faro.

When we arrived at airport a lady was waiting with the paperwork completed, just needed a couple of signatures and credit card details, driving licenses etc. Cars were waiting in airport car part 60 seconds walk from terminal building.

Excellent service and excellent prices.

I have booked a car through https://www.algarve-car-hire.co.uk. The times i need the car is classed as mid season with every other car rental company. This company has an extended 'low season' so i managed to get a really cheap price by getting the car at low season prices when every other company quoted mid season. A rep meets you at the airport and does the paperwork there when you arrive. I also got a free upgrade but i'm not sure if this offer is still running.
