do I need a girder if removing a non supporting wall?

I want to remove my living/dining room wall, I know its not a supporting wall but am not sure whether I need a girder or not? Can anyone help please?

    How do you know it isn't a supporting wall? If you are so sure then why the doubt? Not being mean, just curious. What is above it?

    Even though there may not be a wall above, the upper floor joists may rest on it.

    You need to give more info for a clearer answer. Or get a surveyor in to confirm what you need to do. Will cost, but better safe than sorry

    Competent builder would be ok and cheaper.
  • Im sure its not a supporting wall as the joists rest the opposite way. The wall above is only latt n plaster. Having never knocked a wall down before I just wanted to check> Thanx for your replies
