Would it petty to comment on postage..

Received an item from eBay today. I won it 8 days ago (Tues 22nd.) It was listed to be posted by RM 1st class standard but it arrived and has been posted 2nd class standard.
Assuming it works (it's a Playstation memory card and I haven't tested it yet), would it be petty to make a comment on postage in my feedback? I'm not gonna neg the guy or anything. I mean it (assumedly at this moment in time) works and it arrived and everything.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

I would contact the seller before you leave feedback - it may have been a genuine mistake. Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0

What was the price difference between what you paid & the seller was charged?
I would contact saying that you were disapointed that it wasn't sent 1st class as listed, see what he says. If he ignores or has no good reson, then I would mention, especially if the price was a lot more.0 -
I paid £2 postage and I've just weighed the item, in the envelope and looked up the cost of the postage they paid. 51p. The envelope was a bog standard, not even A5 size paper envelope. Not padded or anything. No way was it worth £1.49 to make up what I paid for postage. (It was so flimsy, it ripped and RM had to send it in an "We're sorry we damaged your package" bag.)What was the price difference between what you paid & the seller was charged?

I'll get in touch with the seller. If he's at least apologetic, I'll feel better. Just a bit miffed.0 -
If the packaging was damaged then I would be more inclined to comment on that especially as you say it was obviously in adequate. I would suggest discussing both issues with the seller before leaving feedback though.0

I won something a few weeks ago, advertised as 1st class recorded- free postage, it was sent 2nd class recorded. It didn't bother me too much as it was received quick and was free post (although maybe the postage was added in the price). I just left it at that.
I won something else last week, a bike, to be posted Parcelforce 24, it was sent HDNL 48, also didn't bother me as again it was sent and received quick. I think she may have miscalculated costs and found a service which covered the item and the cost she charged.
I think if you received it fine and still in good time, then leave it at that, although if you paid for the service and the service used appeared to give the seller a profit, you could mark them down slightly in their stars.0 -
Thanks everyone. I've sent a message outlining my disappointment in the wrong postage and flimsy-ness of the envelope. I'll wait and see if I get a reply before leaving any feedback.0

Dont worry about 2nd class stamps, lifes to short!!0

Which sounds very good, don't sweat the small stuff. Except if there's 20 other sellers all charging the same inc p&p, most buyers will opt for the one who says that they'll post 1st class. So it puts all the other sellers at a disadvantage.
3/4 of the cost of p&p virtually on top of the actual cost of postage is pretty high. The envelope cost was probably negligible if it wasn't suitable to go through the postal sysem.0 -

given royal mail ripping etc then i understand your miff-ment as packaging was clearly not sufficient. furthermore if package took longer than you'd rightfully expect via 1st i wld go back to buyer and comment.
in this case as is i think you are correct in challenging (it may have been a genuine mistake posting 2nd however)0 -
I would also contact them and give feedback according their response. If they reply apologising for their mistake and preferably volunteer a refund of some or all of the postage charge then they would get good feedback and stars. If the reply is unsatisfactory or there is no response I would leave a neutral and mark them down severely in the stars for postage and packing and communication.
I think that sending by a cheaper/ slower postage method is not a trivial matter.0
