Bag/Purse Essentials

Options
I apologise if there is already a thread like this. :o

I just recently bought a new bag and I'd like to put things in it (aside from phone, wallet etc) that could prove handy for various situations. :o

What sort of essential things do you have in your bag/purse? I'm sorry if that's a personal question.:o You don't have to say any embarrassing things you have in there. :p

Thank you in advance.

in my school bag i have a small make up bag which contains my 'survival kit'.

    it contains

    *plasters
*safety pins (eg for if a button comes off of a shirt)
    *paracetamol
    *lemsip sachet
    *cold and flu tablets
    *kirby (hair) grips
    *mini hair brush
    *hair band
    *sanitary pad
    *panty liner
    *mini tampons
    *tissues
    *compact mirror
*mini deodorant (for those very stressful and therefore sweaty days)
    *hand sanitizer gel
    *mini travel toothbrush and toothpaste

it all fits in one small side pocket of my satchel, and has come in handy many a time!

for my main handbag i'm starting something similar but on a smaller scale. I have a small pencil case from muji which i keep the handbag essentials in, so that when i swap bags i don't hav to root around retrieving things from various pockets. at the moment it contains

    *compact mirror
    *tissues
    *mints and gum
    *tampons
    *vaseline

it's fab reaching into my bag and knowing exactly where i will find the above, instead of rooting around for hours and hours!

That definitely sounds organised! I think I may do something like that. It's annoying having to spend ages rooting around for loose things in my bag underneath everything else!

It's no wonder we all have bad backs isn't it?! I've got mountains of rubbish in my bag, none useful. I went ferreting round in my bag one day last year and pulled out a dummy, a babies bib and a toddlers sun hat. My kids were 7 and 5! I know that I have DS's MP3 player and DD's blue nailvarnish in my bag at the moment.
It is on my to do list though :D
    Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.
    MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.

haha, i'm going to sound so disorganised! i don't really have an everyday handbag, i have so many bags, and really favour clutches and small bags, so don't take much..
usually in my handbag for the day:
    purse
    phone
    camera
    pot of carmex lip balm
    dove deodorant stick
    keys
(that's it, as my make up bag is in the car)

that said, I have started cycling to work recently, and if i do that, my bag for the day is a bigger one, as it has all of the above, as well as a dress and cardi to change into once at work, and a pair of heels.

i also always carry my diary around with me, it's abotu a5 size, so sometimes doesn't fit in the bag.
