Help the toilet has gone mad!

Does anyone out there know a little about plumbing?

For some reason everytime I flush my toilet it sounds like the world is going to end. It makes a roaring/vibrating noise as the cistern refills. This stops when the cold tap is turned on. I have tried turning down the water pressure to the minimum and this didn't help. I tried turning the pressure right up, no use. I have checked for loose pipes, none. The maddening thing is that sometimes it is fine for several days then starts again.

Any ideas welcome no matter how daft. Cheers all.

When I had that problem with mine it was because there was to little pressure.
I had to alter the stop tap in the road to enable me to have more adjustment on the inside tap. It may help.
