Asda Online Grocery Shopping Complaint

The worst ASDA online shopping experience to date? Quite Possibly!!:mad:
I recently ordered an online grocery delivery which was due to arrive between 1700 and 1900. At 2000 that day i contacted ASDA to ask about the whereabouts of the delivery. I was told they would chase it up and call me back immediately. An hour and a half later, i rang them back because i still hadn't heard from them. They told me they didnt know why it was late and i was again told they would find out call me back (again).
At just before 2200 i was told the van had allegedly broken down. I was told i could have it delivered the following day. Which to be fair it was. I was not however compensated in any way for the lack of delivery, the failure to meet my allocated delivery slot and the cost to have my shopping delivered.
Just over a week later, i try to pay a gas bill over the phone, only to have my payment declined due to lack of funds in my bank account. I quickly checked my bank account online to find that ASDA, had not charged me £90.28 for my shopping. They had however charged me £9028!!!!
After spending nearly all day on the phone to ASDA, i still find myself very disappointed with the response. I will have my £9028 refunded (thanks ASDA) but this will take 10 days. In which time my bank will charge me for being heavily overdrawn. I have no cash to pay for anything. Numerous payments will be missed thus incurring bank charges and late payment charges. The knock on of this will be poor credit history.
I asked to be compensated and they said they need proof of any loss which i may incur before they do anything for me!! How about the lack of money in my account and the inconvenience of the whole situation! How do i prove that??
Oh and they gave me £25 of e-vouchers for my next online shop, which i need to use before the end of August 2010. Why would i wont those?! I dont want to shop with them again after this saga!
Am i being unreasonable in thinking i deserve a bit more from them?!

If you are charged by your bank for going OD get a copy of the statement and get it to asda or explain the situation to your bank and see what they can do0

Ouch!!!
You should chase them for all the bank charges you are incurring because of their mistake.
I had a similar experience with Tesco in January when we were snowed in. I thought I'd order online as I didnt want to risk the drive. Tesco failed to deliver and after numerous calls and promises that the delivery was on it's way, I was eventually told that they couldn't deliver. I was able to re-schedule for a couple of days later, but it was just the lack of information that really annoyed me. It's put me off shopping online for groceries.0 -
Too right, you MUST insist they pay the bank charges back,, its not as if its going to be a few quid after 10 days at that amount. Ring them back tomorrow and make sure they know you are going to bill them the incurring costs, it might help them push it forward, as its going to sting for each day your in the red.
Heads should roll for this!:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Christ I thought my recent experiance was bad, so glad I have decided not to shop with them again.0 -
You are not being unreasonable at all!! your charges could run into hundreds! I would insist on something being done quicker than 10 days - have you spoken to a MAnager? I am sure they must be able to do something here.
I would expect to be fully compensated for all your financial losses at the very least, but it could take weeks to find out what they are (i.e. if a DD was sent back you may be charged from the bank and the company with the rejected DD) so I would not take a final settlement until you know exactly what the damage is.
Good luck - do let us know what happens...0 -
Thats why i use tesco0
