****2012 brides - step this way***

  • Me too! We're getting married on 6th October 2012.

So far H2B and I have booked the venue, the registrar and the photographer. We'll be looking into insurance as soon as October comes in and the wedding is officially 2 years away (most insurers won't cover us yet).

I'm also making a scrapbook of photos and magazine cut outs etc and doing LOTS of research, in fact I'm fairly wedding obsessed at the mo, much to H2B's annoyance! lol

Nice to see lots of other 2012 brides.

I'm 21 January 2012 and can't wait! It's over 2 months since I approached the venue and started the ball rolling and I can't believe how fast it's gone! I'm off to try and get supplies this week to see about making my own bouquet as knowing me it will take the full 18 months to get it done!!!!!
Lots to do, but also lots that I'm missing out so I can scratch items off my list as I go (eg don't need cars, venue decs and other bits and bobs).

Hi I'm hopefully getting married June or September 2012 :), have made enquiries into venues but haven't actually looked around any yet.

Trouble is we're moving to Australia in a month for a year, so if I don't sort anywhere out now it'll have to wait until I get back. :(

Worried that 10-12 months to plan will be too little time!

Also not sure which area to get married in - close to my parents in the southeast or in the northwest - where we met and will hopefully be living on our return to the UK!

Swaying towards the northwest at the moment as it seems to be much cheaper to get married there!

Looking forward to chatting to other 2012 brides to be x

dollymix, the decision of where to get married is entirely yours. If you don't get know where you will be staying on your return then I would probably choose something either close to where you are living now, or nearby either of your parents. I think tradition it is at the brides but it is totally your choice! Either that or go for somewhere totally different but then that means everyone having to travel!

10-12 months is plenty time to organise everything, I did a friends in less than 6 months, it's all about knowing what you want and where you can get it, and being in Australia won't stop you from getting ideas and planning things. You can do a lot by email in advance these days although it means you wont be able to actually see things until you get home again.

Good luck in whatever you decide to go with. x

Yep I'm already getting ideas of what kind of wedding I want - theme, budget etc and I can research a lot by email. Going to a wedding fair locally on thursday evening so hoping that'll give me some ideas of what's available as well :T x

  • GUTTED was going to go & pay the depoist this week to secure the date we had provisionally booked & this morning a HUGE tax bill landed on our mat in the post

It was so unexpected we thought we had paid all our tax bill earlier this year.. Our accountant didnt even say that it totaled to this whole amount which it will have one we pay the next lot end of July...

I cant believe it & am so !!!!!! off. We now have to use the deposit money & get more money up together this month to pay this tax bill by the end of the month so the pressure is on abit

Going to lose my date now cant see them holding it for any longer :-(

    hi,
i've found my perfect dress but wondering what all you other 2012 brides are doing with this respect? I'm a size 18. I've got 2 years to diet. Do I buy my dress now and risk succeeding in losing weight? Or do I leave it until next year, see how the diet goes, and risk losing my ideal dress?
Congrats to everyone on this thread for your engagements etc!
