UK account while living in Czech Rep

A couple of things. Firstly, I recently moved to Prague. Before moving, I spoke to a member of staff at my local A&L branch. I was assured that maintaining my UK account would be no problem -- simply notify A&L of change of address. The paperwork was duly completed and sent to A&L HQ. I've now received a letter from A&L, stating that they cannot proceed with the change of address, due to changes in UK legislation to accommodate the European Union Savings Tax Directive (EUSTD). Instead, they've *kindly* referred me to A&L International, but a quick look at their website shows that I'm way short of their account balance and transactions requirements (i.e. I'm skint)
Secondly, my Armed Forces pension provider has informed me that they can't pay my pension directly into a Czech bank account!!
Is there any UK bank that can provide me with a account whilst living in CZ?

Thank you.

Any of the big UK banks (HSBC, Natwest, Lloyds, Barclays) should be willing to allow you to hold a UK bank account while living in CZ.

Are you sure this is correct? I live abroad and have an e-banking account with Santander. Although they are happy to continue the account I cannot even move to a upgraded e-banking 2 account.
They state that they can not open any new accounts for non residents unless serving in the armed forces.
They will not accept form R105 so tax is deducted from the interest .
I did try other banks but from my experience they all take the same line and refer to their offshore company.
I would be interested if anybody has experience of opening an account as a non resident with a UK bank.
