Stopping tax credits claim??

I am getting married in a few weeks time

At the moment I am claiming WTC and CTC but know that once I am married I will no longer qualify for WTC and only the basic CTC

So the question is this. Am I able to just phone up the TC office a few days before the wedding and ask them to stop the claim and we will put in a joint claim after our honeymoon? OK it might mean losing 3 weeks of TC but its not the end of the world

Looking on the website it states I have to inform them withi one month but I know this would lead to an overpayment - and of course we will be away just after the wedding- really dont want to spend honeymoon phoning TC:rotfl::rotfl:
